Ann J. Sullivan-Geyer

Ann J. Sullivan-Geyer, longtime Vinita area resident and former Ohio resident, passed away April 6, 2024, at home. She was born January 2, 1936, to James and Nellie (Visnic) Vanek in Cadiz, Ohio. She married James F. Sullivan on May 21, 1955, at Immaculate Conception Church. The two were married until his death in 1994. Ann married Paul Geyer, February 17, 2001, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita and were married until his death in 2004.

Ann was a 1953 graduate of Cadiz High School. She also attended Kent State University and Ashland University. She earned an Associate Degree in Nursing and worked for many years as a nurse in Ohio including Twin City Hospital and 17 years at Country Club Retirement Center. She moved to Oklahoma in 2000 and worked as a Nursing Home Investigator for the State of Oklahoma. She was certified in gerontology as well as long term care nursing.

Ann enjoyed painting, crafts, and flower gardening. She was also an avid counted cross-stitcher. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison, Ohio and Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita, Oklahoma. She taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, was a Lecter, served as Eucharistic Minister, sang in the choir, and was active in the Catholic Women’s Club of Vinita.

Four things could summarize Ann and those things that she had love and passion for: Church, Children, Cats, and Career.

Ann is survived by her children, Jeanne Eisenhut and husband, Dennis of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Jo Hornak and husband, Jerry, of Boynton, Florida, Beth Nill and husband, Terry, of Mineral City, Ohio, David Michael Sullivan of Indianapolis, Indiana, and James Kevin Sullivan and wife, Michelle, of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandson, Jake Connor Sullivan of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister-in-law, Karen Vanek of Massillon, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, James Francis Sullivan; late husband, Paul Geyer; parents; sister Elizabeth Borovich; brother, James Vanek, Jr.; and brothers-in-law Paul Sullivan and John Sullivan.

A Rosary Prayer service will be held Monday, April 15, 2024, at 6:30 P.M. with visitation to follow until 8:30 P.M. in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 19, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. in the St. Mary Cemetery, Dennison, Ohio.
