Billy George Loewe, 80 year old Grove resident, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2020. Billy was born in Ft. Smith, AR on January 21, 1940 to Albin and Ailene Loewe. On July 6, 1962, in Newport, RI, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Ann Sutcliffe. Together they raised 4 children. Billy served in the Navy for 23 years, retiring as a Battleship Signalman. He then served on the Arkansas City Police Department for 1 year, followed by 8 years for Montgomery Elevators. Billy then “retired” and moved to Grove in 1991, but retirement just didn’t suit him. He started his own bait and tackle shop, Bass-N-Things Tackle, running it for 15 years. He also hosted guided fishing trips on Grand Lake as well as participated in numerous fishing tournaments. He also enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family, staying active at Mountain Movers Church, and arguing with Fox News.
Survivors include his loving wife Ann of the home, daughter, Michelle Hefton, and son, Mike Loewe and wife Karen, seven grandchildren: Jillian, Ayana, Amanda, John Jr., Tanner, Courtney, and Emily, 3 great grandchildren, including Trey Loewe, as well as siblings: Larry Loewe, Joy Fry, Greg Bradshaw, Tracy Poole, and Jennifer Brower. He is preceded in death by his father, A. G. Loewe, mother Ailene Bradshaw, sons: John and Tom Loewek, and brother Danny Loewe.
Memorial services will be 6 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Mountain Movers Church with Pastors Brad and Misty Helton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home.
