Connie June Patrick

Constance “Connie” June Patrick, passed away on January 7, 2024, at the St. Francis South Hospital in Tulsa. She was born on March 22, 1935, in St. Charles, Iowa to Orval Douglas and Helen Nichols Douglas. Seven years later, the parents were divorced, and Connie went to live with her grandparents.

At age eleven, she moved to Des Moines with her mother and stepfather. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and attended nurse’s training for the next eighteen months at Broadlawns School of Nursing. She left that program to marry and travel with Coast Guard husband, Robert Sawin in 1954. During this marriage four children were born: Deborah Helen Robbins, Desiree Ann Waddle, Dennis Harold Sawin, and Deanna Lynn Green and they blessed her with eight grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

Following the tour with the Coast Guard the family moved back to Des Moines. There Connie opened and ran a business called Allstate Nurses Registry. In 1969, she sold the business and the family moved to Vinita, Oklahoma.

In 1975, the marriage was dissolved, and Connie and the children remained in the Vinita area.

In 1976, Connie married James Patrick and they continued to make their home in Vinita. For the next 22 years she worked at Home of Hope, Inc. as a Human Resource Manager and received a Nursing Home Administrator License in 1999.She left that employment and in 1977, she opened a business with two friends called “Community Options, Inc.” and continued working there part-time until 2004, when she became a Case Manager for the Advantage Program and continued that employment until January 2024.

Connie was baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1972 and continued to be an active member, deaconess, and personal ministries leader until her death.

Connie is preceded in death by her Husband James, in April 2008.

Funeral Services for Connie will be held Wednesday January 10, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Fairland Cemetery, in Fairland Oklahoma. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
