Don Carl Lindsay 83 year old resident of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on August 1, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Don was born on July 26, 1937 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was the son of Carl and Gertrude (Tromershauser) Lindsay. Don graduated from Marengo High School in Marengo, Iowa in 1956. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1956 – 1960. Don was stationed in Biloxi, MS, Remote, AK and Texarkana, AR. Don graduated from Iowa State University in 1965 earning a degree in forestry, botany and civil engineering. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Janell Sinquefield in July of 1967.
During Don’s career he worked for consulting firms in Monticello, AR (1 yr.), and Texarkana TX (3 yrs). He was the manager of Amana Colonies Sawmill in Iowa (3 yrs.) and retired working 28 years for the State of Oklahoma. Don received numerous awards including OERB Outstanding Petro Pro Speaker during the last 10 years of employment. Don was blessed to live in Iowa, Mississippi, Alaska, Arkansas, Texas but made Oklahoma his home. Don was a member of Elk River Baptist Church in Grove, Oklahoma. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, dancing and homemade ice cream.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 43 years, Janell Lindsay. He is survived by his two children; Kim Jekel and husband John of Edmond, OK and Wesley Lindsay of Grove, OK, and his sister Colleen Tuttle of Fairfield, Iowa. Don adored his grandchildren; Jamie Jekel Benda and husband Riley of Edmond, OK and Adam Jekel and wife Eliza.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-6PM, Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 6, 2020 with Pastor Ed Glasgow officiating. Honoring Don’s life serving as casket bearers will be; Leon Whitcomb, Rich Jekel, Adam Jekel, Wesley Lindsay, John Jekel, and Riley Benda.
