Longtime Vinita resident Evelyn D. Trissell, 86, entered the Kingdom of Heaven March 31, 2023, after a lengthy illness. A Pawnee, Okla. Native, Mrs. Trissell had been a Vinita resident since 1968 and was involved in the city’s church and youth activities for many years.
She was a charter member of the Craig County Genealogical Society, founded in 1976. In 1988, she became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and was active in that group on the local, regional and state levels. Mrs. Trissell also belonged to the Flying Geese Guild Quilting Club, and the Piece Makers Quilting group of Vinita’s First United Methodist Church, of which she was a longtime member. She attended Oklahoma State University and married W. Alvin Trissell in Tulsa in 1958.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Ellen Schmitt, and sister Mary Emma Schmitt. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, of the home; children Darrel Trissell, Charlotte (Mike) Flock, Nina (Tony) Miller, and Kevin (Teresa) Trissell, Grandchildren, Cliff (Chrissy) Flock, Tonya (Taylor) Massey, Maggie (Thomas) Schneiter, Neal Miller and girlfriend (Micaylah), Kevin Trissell, Jeffery (Madeleine) Trissell, Brian ((Lauren) Trissell, and Ashely Trissell; great grandchildren, Normandie, Britain, Arya and Aubaine. Other survivors include a sister, Wilma Kelly, of Pawnee.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.Funeral services will be conducted at Luginbuel’s Chapel at 2:00 pm on Wednesday April 5, 2023, with Rev. Tim Mixson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
