Geneva Faye Tuell

Geneva Faye (Dawson) Tuell went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2024, after a brief stay at the Heartsworth nursing facility.

She was born on February 24, 1935, in her parents’ home near Ketchum, Oklahoma, with a midwife attending. She was the eighth of nine children born to Gladys (Harris) and William Dawson. She attended Couch Grade School across the intersection from her parents’ home, which would later become home to herself, her husband, and two children. She later graduated from Big Cabin High School.

She married Norman E. Tuell on May 4, 1952, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. She worked locally at different jobs during her lifetime including Hotel Vinita Cafe, Boatright’s Dry Goods, Munsingwear, Sequoya Furniture, TRW Cinch, Clanton’s Truck Stop, and Super 8 Motel.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Big Cabin where she sang in the choir and taught a children’s Sunday school class. She loved gardening, crafting, sewing quilts, and spending time with family.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four older sisters; three older brothers; one younger brother (who died at birth); one daughter, Kathy (Tuell) McCoy; and one grandson, Phillip McCoy.

She is survived by one son, Rickey Tuell, and his wife, Sherry; two grandchildren, Cassie (McCoy) Huckabie and Duane Bradley McCoy; along with her great grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws comprising her large extended family.

A visitation will be held for all Geneva’s friends and family at Luginbuel Funeral Home Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Big Cabin Cemetery alongside her husband’s grave.
