On September 30, 2026, Jesse James Johnson completed the final page of his earthly journey, having lived every single day that was written in his book.

In 1977, Jesus came looking for Jesse, and he accepted the offer of salvation, hope, and peace that sustained him throughout his life. Talking about Jesus, studying the Bible, and serving in the church were the cornerstones of the deep faith he held. Above all else, his relationship with his Savior was number one.

Jesse deeply enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to deer hunt and was always ready to go crappie fishing. After he retired, he took up flint knapping and bow making, finding great joy in working with his hands.

Jesse nearly always had a smile on his face, especially when surrounded by those he loved. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him immense happiness.

Jesse is survived by his beloved wife, two daughters and their families including five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, two sisters, and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. While he leaves behind many who love him, he was greeted in heaven by a large family of believers, preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

The family will hold a private memorial service to celebrate his life and legacy.
