Laura Jean Gray, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, was born July 28, 1939, in Pryor, Oklahoma. She left this world on September 5, 2024, in Vinita, Oklahoma, leaving behind a cherished legacy that will be honored and remembered by many.
Laura's vibrant spirit shined brightly through her many passions and hobbies. An enthusiastic member of the Grand Lake Swingers, she truly embraced the joy of life through dance. Her love for dancing was matched only by her passion for cooking, where she delighted in preparing meals for friends and family, creating warm gatherings filled with laughter and connection. Her sociable nature was evident in her fondness for talking on the phone and playing cards, always eager to share a moment with those she cared about.
Throughout her life, Laura exemplified dedication and hard work. Alongside her late husband, James, she played an essential role in their garage, body shop, and wrecker business, gracefully handling the books and records while contributing to the growth of their shared dream. In addition to her business acumen, she also touched lives as the head of the women’s auxiliary fire department in Langley, showcasing her commitment to her community.
Laura’s life was full of love, and she leaves behind a devoted family. She is survived by her son Calvin Gray and his wife Charlene of Arlington, Washington; her daughter Beth Worley of Langley; her daughter Pat Robinson and her husband Lee of Langley; her daughter Kathy Gray of Langley; as well as 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren. Her memory will live on through the generations that followed her, each touched by her warmth and kindness.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents John and Tempa Trice, brother Ed "Sonny" Trice, sisters Saddie Breshears and Georgia Badley, her husband James, her children George Davis, Lori Hudson, and an infant son, William Davis. She also mourns the loss of her granddaughter, Meghan Hitchcock.
A visitation to celebrate Laura's remarkable life will be held on September 9, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Langley, Oklahoma. The Celebration of Life will take place at Family Community Church of Langley, Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Dan Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery in Spavinaw, Oklahoma. Jared Davis, Kolby Vaughn, Farron Hollabaugh, Parker Hollabaugh, Mike Wheat, and Josh Rains will serve as casket bearers.
