Laurence Everett Miers

Chelsea, Oklahoma

Laurence “Larry” Everett Miers, 61, of Chelsea, Oklahoma, passed away on February 5, 2024, in Chelsea. He was born June 27, 1962, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Willard “Bill” Paul Miers and Ann Elizabeth (Perrin) Miers.

He attended and graduated from Chelsea High School. Larry joined the Navy in 1980, and served his country for the next 12 years, travelling the world in the process. He later went to work as a communications technician for Southwestern Bell, which later became AT&T. He retired from there in 2021.

On May 15, 1982, he married his high school sweetie, Mitzie Dorsey. Together they built a life, adding two children along the way. They were married 41 years. Larry enjoyed a variety of hobbies including photography, reading, gardening, and woodworking. He was an avid target shooter. He explored beekeeping, radio-controlled airplanes and many other things. He shared his interests with his children and grandchildren, building priceless memories.

He is loved dearly by his family and many, many friends. His absence will be noticed and his presence greatly missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Ann Miers. Survivors include his wife, Mitzie, of the home; children, Casey Dunsworth and spouse, Jamie, of Foyil, Oklahoma, Jessie Miers and spouse, Kelly, of Claremore; grandchildren, Aidan Miers, Naomi Dunsworth, Xander Miers, Emma Jean Dunsworth; siblings, Paula Miers and Raymond Miers; many other relatives, and a host of friends.

A celebration of life will be held for Larry, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, in Vinita, Oklahoma. It will be livestreamed at www.honoringmemories.com. Burial will follow at Timpson Chapel Cemetery, west of Vinita. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Luginbuel Chapel in Vinita.
