Lela E. “Nan” Brixey, 92, long time resident of Zena, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 8, 2020 at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Oklahoma.
Lela was born on January 28, 1928 in Centrailia, Oklahoma. She was the loving daughter of Varney “Bally” and Jewel (Norris) Keeter. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Walter Brixey on January 18, 1945. In their younger years, “Amos & Blondie” enjoyed taking a break from the farm, and going camping and fishing.
Lela was a lifetime member of the Zena Baptist Church, she read her Bible daily and enjoyed listening to gospel music. “Blondie” was a devoted wife, loving mother, and the ultimate grandmother “Nan”. She was very proud of her family, as every wall in her home was adorned with family photos. Lela collected anything and everything that had to do with roosters and chickens. Her yard was full of a vast variety of beautiful flowers, bird-feeders and hummingbirds. Lela also enjoyed word-finds, and always had a puzzle she was working.
Lela was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, a daughter Betty Ann Tyndall (Ernie), brother Sonny Keeter, and son-in law Larry Jackson. She is survived by her four children: Cathy Jackson of Miami, OK, Andy Brixey (Kay) of Zena, OK, Jerry Brixey (Julie) of Zena, OK, and Sandra Carnell of Kansas, OK, she was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Betty Jane Jenkins of Idaho.
