Lois Chapman

June 21, 1935 — April 29, 2025

Vinita, Oklahoma

Lois (Rey) Hankins Chapman, 89-year-old Vinita resident, passed away April 29, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born June 21, 1935, in Rago, Kansas to Jesus Laura Rey and Elvira (Mendoza) Rey.

Lois was married to Richard Lee Hankins until his unexpected death in 1966. Later, she met and married Ronald Eugene Chapman on July 9, 1970, and the two celebrated over 54 years of marriage together.

Lois worked for Eastern State Hospital for nineteen years. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly. They were the apples of her eye, and she loved attending their sporting activities. She always put family first and enjoyed spending time with her family taking trips, going to the rodeo, and putting puzzles together. Lois also enjoyed fishing, camping, singing, and dancing. In addition, Lois could make a bonfire like you have never seen before.

An amazing cook, she loved to feed her family and others. She had deep faith and loved going to church, ensuring that her children attended with her. She was full of joy and always had a smile on her face.

Lois is survived by her husband, Ronald, of the home; children, Ronald Rea Hankins, Carol Jean Hankins, Steven Glen Hankins, Gregory Neil Hankins, Marilyn Wyona (Hankins) Watts, Breanda Charlene Hankins Armijo, Janelle Hankins, and Tommy Hankins; thirteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ronald Hankins; brothers, Ray Rey, Jim Rey, and Jay Rey; and sisters, Eva (Rey) Hazen and Letha (Rey) Frye.

The family will receive friends Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Luginbuel Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 5, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Justin Turner officiating.
