Mary Jane Calvert, 73-year-old longtime Langley resident, passed away May 16, 2024, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born September 13, 1950, to Curtis and Jo Ellen (Lilly) Williams in Covington, Kentucky.
Mary Jane was a graduate of Northeastern State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She worked for 35 years for the Grand River Dam Authority as an Accountant in the Accounting and Payroll Department. She met Greg Calvert and the two had their first date on July 5, 1991. They were married on October 22, 2017, in Mayes County.
Mary Jane and Greg raised show dogs that were shown and sold all over the world and won many Champion and Grand Champion titles. She was a charter member of South Grand Lake Christian Church in Langley and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Sorority. Mary Jane and Greg purchased the Cove Club in Langley in 1996 and operated it until the early 2000s. Mary Jane was extremely smart, kind, and loving. She loved all animals, but especially her dogs.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Greg, of the home; children, Curtis Colvin (Kristi) of Newton, Kansas, Sara Kemp (Michael) of Adair, Oklahoma, and Matt Calvert (Shawna) of Grand Lake Towne, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Curtis Williams of Boston, Massachusetts.
The family will receive friends at Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home in Langley from 3:00-5:00 P.M., Sunday, May 19, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 20, 2024, at Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home in Langley with Pastor Gina Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Adair Cemetery with Jackson Calvert, Lloyd Calvert, Ray Long, Sean Ridley, Dustin Winfrey, and Greg Calvert serving as casket bearers.
