Phyllis Ann Chambers, 83 year old Disney resident, went home to her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2023. Phyllis was born in Disney on July 17, 1939, to William and Garland (Zimmerman) Akin. She worked in Tulsa at an insurance agency until she retired and moved back to Disney. Phyllis loved her family and took great joy in cooking for them and hosting the holiday meals. She especially loved decorating for Christmas. She also enjoyed singing, reading the Bible, going out to eat, traveling, and watching the Dallas Cowboys and OU Sooners play football. Phyllis was also active with her church, Disney Assembly of God.
Survivors include her grandchildren Amanda Hearn and Tyler Albertson, siblings: Joyce Brown of Disney, Tommy Akin and wife Genelle of Langley, Neil Akin and wife Janice of Broken Arrow, and Gary Akin and wife Fayrene of Tulsa, OK. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Victor Chambers, son Ronald Joe Frye, and brothers: Norman, Donald, and Larry Akin.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the Disney Assembly of God Church with Pastor Daryl Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Spavinaw Strang Cemetery.
