Roy Lee Foster transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, June 17, 2024. Roy was born June 5, 1936, to Oliver and Hesterine (Wooten) Foster near Chelsea, Oklahoma. Roy attended Booker T. Elementary in Bowlin Springs (aka Pryor Creek) and Attucks High School of Vinita.
Roy migrated from Bowlin Springs (aka Pryor Creek) to California by way of Tulsa, Denver, Portland, and Philadelphia. Roy’s profession was a heavy equipment operator for PG and E of California. He enjoyed watching Western TV and talking to family and friends about politics and news. Roy accepted Christ and was baptized in Vinita at the United Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Farris Downing.
Roy is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sacore Foster; sister, Ruby Foster-Adams, Anna Foster-Dockins, Geraldine Foster-Diggs (John), Ruth Foster-Irving; sister-in-law, Sasha Foster; brothers, Carl Foster and Oliver Foster Jr. (Monika).
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Hesterine Foster; sisters, Pauline Foster, Ophelia (Foster) Weston; sister-in-law, Augusta Foster; niece, Rugina Carren Irving; brother, Charlie foster; brothers-in-law, Raymond Adams, Leolin Dockins, Robert Weston, and Raymond Irving.
Graveside services will be held Monday, July 1, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Shady Grove Cemetery in Chelsea. A repast will be held directly following the graveside service at the People’s Community Center in Bowlin Springs.
