Susan Melanie Wright

July 13, 1941 — September 28, 2025

Afton, Oklahoma

Susan Melanie Wright, 84-year-old Afton resident, passed away September 28, 2025, at a Tulsa hospital surrounded by family. She was born on July 13, 1941, in Tacoma, Washington to James Walter and Marlyn Fern (Brown) Booth. She married Jerry Bill Wright on March 15, 1968, in Washington.

As a little girl, Sue would pick vegetables and fruit in the orchards and had fond memories of growing up in Washington. After moving to Oklahoma, she worked at Glenberry’s Sewing Factory in Commerce, Oklahoma. In most recent years, she was known for her home business, “Sewing by Sue” where she helped numerous clients with repairs, alterations, and “from scratch” creations. Sue expressed her love for others through service; from serving in the church to assisting folks around the lake with housekeeping, it truly was her “love language.”

Sue loved Jesus, Jerry Bill, and her family. All her children have numerous voice messages in which she always ended the call with, “Catch you later. Love you, bye.”

Sue will be deeply missed by all who know her. She is survived by a loving family including children; Beth Long of Collinsville, Marjorie Corder of Edmond, Robin Fairsheets (Ronnie) of Guthrie, Robert Long (Tammy) of Vinita, Yavonna Wright Bolding of Muskogee, Jerrilene Wright Zarb of Miami, Terry Wright of Miami, Karl Wright of Georgia; Sisters Martha Perry, Madelyn May, Melinda Lacy, and Kelly Dolan, brothers, Steve Booth, Tom Dolan, Pat Dolan and Casey Dolan, 19 grandchildren; 39 great- grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bill, and her parents, sisters, Dawn Degroot and Claudia Blackwood, bothers, Bruce Booth, Danny Dolan, Mike Dolan, and Tim Dolan, and a Son-in-law, Bryant Bolding. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Susan’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on October 27, 2025, at the Afton First Assembly of God in Afton, Oklahoma.
