Virginia Iscimenler

Virginia (Ginny) Iscimenler was born in Nashville, TN on Dec 20, 1934 to Robert and

Betty Martin and departed this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on March 15, 2023 surrounded by her family. Ginny was the eldest of 3 brothers and spent part of her youth at Oak Ridge, a “Secret City” where the atomic bomb was developed while her father was employed there. She also became a devoted follower of Christ at this time being baptized in 7th grade.

She graduated from Donelson High School in 1953 and became a nurse. It was while working at a Pediatric hospital in Nashville that she met the love of her life, Dr. Selahattin Iscimenler who she married in 1958. Selah and Ginny moved to Vinita, OK in 1960 and made it their home where they both worked at Eastern State Hospital, Ginny for 22years. They had three children together,  Belma Marshall (Dave) of Enid, OK, Suzan Welsh (Terry) of Costa Mesa, CA, Erol Iscimenler (Ashley) of Durant, OK. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Nicky and Austin Jones,, Adam and Jared Iscimenler, Hannah Welsh, Desarea and Amber St. Claire and 5 great grandchildren, Rylee Ford, Aurora, Dallas, Nora and Hazel Jones.

Ginny was widowed at 51,but made many trips after Selah’s passing to visit his relatives in Turkey, whom she dearly loved. She never felt sorry for herself and continued to work and be active in the community, in her church, and with her family and hobbies. She learned to do upholstery in her 60’s and to paint in her 70’s. She wrote and published two books which blessed her friends and family and this accomplishment is even more remarkable, because she did not know how to type! She was president of the Vinita Literacy council for 10 years and also volunteered to teach English as a Second Language. She opened up her home and table to others and sought to be a blessing and encouragement to everyone. Whenever she was aware of a need, she would pray, believe, and miracles would happen! No matter what her health conditions were, she was faithful to keep praying and trusting as a daughter of the King. She knew who she was and loved like Jesus with hope in her heart and joy that was contagious. We rejoice in knowing that she is now reunited with her husband, parents, brothers Ronald, Homer and Ralph Martin and many, many friends who preceded her and are now in heaven. Ginny leaves behind a legacy of service, love and putting others first and we know she finished her race well. 2 Timothy 4:7
