Obituary

Charles John Grant Jr “John”, age 68, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on Friday September 9, 2022 at 10:40 am in Tulsa Oklahoma at hospice. After a long hard 6-year fight battling cancer.  

 

He was born on February 24, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles John Grant Sr and Frances Ann Dudding Grant.  He graduated from Vinita High School in 1972.  He graduated JATC 584 Apprenticeship training in 1979. John was a Journeyman Wireman Electrician for Tulsa Local 584 where he retired after 46 years. He worked for Allisons Smith, McCall Electric Co, Oil Capital Electric co, Oklahoma Electric co, and many more over the years. He was a Forman on many of his electrical jobs. He worked on the midcontinent building downtown Tulsa and the Google data center in Pryor as well as many other jobs.  

 

He married Cheri Beth Hollman Grant on August 14, 1982 at First Baptist Church in Vinita Oklahoma. They both graduated from Vinita High school. They lived apart the last few years when Cheri went into a senior living home. They lived together for 34 years and were married for 40 years.  They were still married when John died. 

 

John was fascinated by computers after Cheri brought home a commadore 64 in the 1990s when they lived is Sperry, Oklahoma. He enjoyed attending the computer club meetings and building computers. He had a love of flying in 1999 he obtained his student pilot license. He was always at the airport, attended fly- ins and airshows. His favorite plane was the P51 mustang he was excited that he got to fly in it. His father-in-law was a pilot that flew private Leer jets and often took John up flying with him.  His favorite holiday was July 4th he loved putting on big fireworks display for the family. He was known for fixing anything at their house and building things. He was a hard-working dad.  

He is preceded by his parents Charles John Grant Sr and Frances Ann Dudding Grant, his daughter Amber Lee Grant and two grandbaby angels.  

 He is survived by his wife Cheri Beth Hollman Grant, his daughters Crystal Holley and her husband Adam and Tiffany Graves and her husband Chad. His brother, Bill Grant and his wife Marla. His Sister Dixie Grant Collins with her husband Gary, and Sister Valerie Grant. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, a nephew, 2 nieces and a great niece. 

Graveside services scheduled October 8th by Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Interment in Fairview cemetery in Vinita Oklahoma. In leau of flowers donations can be made to Oklahoma Cancer Specialists Cares Fund
