Elizabeth Smith

Viola Elizabeth “Beth” Woodall Smith, 90-year-old Vinita resident, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022.  The fourth child of Charles W. and Adeline Woodall, she attended grade school at Wayside rural school, Haskell Indian Institute in Lawrence, Kansas and Vinita High School.  Beth married Glenn D. Smith of Vinita, and lived most of her married life in Missouri.

Originally trained as a Certified Nurse Aide at the Vinita hospital, Beth worked as a waitress while living in Missouri.   She moved back to Vinita upon the death of her husband and worked as a residential aide for nearly 20 years at Home of Hope.  Beth was a talented seamstress and excellent cook, enjoyed reading and playing Bingo, and loved serving her Home of Hope clients.  She attended Pilgrim Presbyterian Church in Vinita, where she enjoyed exercise classes and the fellowship there.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, infant son, and siblings Lolene Harris, Mary Parnell, Jim Woodall and Helen Vire.

Surviving Beth are her son Glenn Douglas Smith, granddaughter Jami (Doug) Couri, grandson Shaun Smith, and great-granddaughters Kaylee Couri and Ava Smith.  Surviving siblings are Ruth Trimble of Afton, Chuck (Irene) Woodall of Vinita, Wilma Lou Rowe of California, and Jeane (Larry) Jordan of Kansas.  She is also survived by brothers-in-law Denton Vire and Tom (Doris) Smith, sisters-in-law Shirley Woodall and Pamela Grace Aune, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Graveside services will be held on April 9, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Ketchum Cemetery in Ketchum, OK.  Services are under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.

The family of Beth Smith wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Heartsworth Nursing Center in Vinita, and to her wonderful hospice nurses who loved and cared for her as their own.
