Gus Anthony “Tony” Duwel, 63-year-old Ketchum resident, passed away on Sunday, February 19,2023. Tony was born in Pryor on June 30, 1959, to Gus and Barbara (Dorsey) Duwel. He attended schools in both Pryor and Ketchum where he played baseball. As an adult, Tony was a hard worker, working as a general laborer. If you were driving down the road, you’d recognize Tony as soon as you saw his red Toyota truck that he drove for the last 20 years. Tony enjoyed being outdoors, going camping and fishing. He was also a wonderful uncle who took great joy in children and dogs. All around Tony was a very loving, caring, and giving man who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his father, Gus Duwel, siblings: Meri Creech and husband Roger of Vinita, Ann Tilmon of Nowata, and Steve Duwel and wife Lisa of Chouteau as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother Barbara Duwel and his brother Paul “Doug” Duwel.
A Rosary will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Chapel. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church in Langley, OK. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita.
