William Carr

William (Bill) Doyce Carr, 88-year-old Vinita resident, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022. He was born on November 14, 1933, to Claud and Erie (Simpson) Carr. After finishing high school in Big Cabin , he served 4 years in the Navy from 1952-1956 as a cook and engine mechanic. Bill served aboard the U.S.S. Elder where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct medal. Upon being honorably discharged from the Navy, he worked for B. F. Goodrich in Miami, Oklahoma, for 29 years and retired in 1986.

He married Louise (Wright) Tucker on December 16, 1967, and became a father to Louise’s daughter, LaDonna Joyce (Tucker) Hawkins. In September 1968, Louise gave birth to twins, Claud Gilbert and Edith Kathleen.

In his younger years, Bill liked to spend his time farming and ranching. He helped Louise prepare, plant, and maintain vegetable gardens. After retiring from B. F. Goodrich, he enjoyed spending time with his family during holiday celebrations and family events. After his wife, Louise, passed away, he enjoyed playing fetch with his dog, Lucy, and checking on the cattle with his son, Claud.

Bill is survived by three children; daughter, LaDonna Hawkins and husband Steve, of Vinita; son, Claud Carr and wife, Dodie, of Big Cabin; and daughter Edith Dishman and husband Brad, of Owasso; grandchildren; Dustin Bryson and wife, Cortney, of Stillwater; Haylee Hayes and husband Sloan of Vinita; Madison Dishman, Jobe Carr, and Jubal Carr; great-grandchildren; Bralyn Hayes, Allye Jo Hayes, Kegan Bryson, and Kimber Bryson; and one sibling, Margaret Sprinkle of Miami and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Louise Carr, siblings Richard (Buck) Carr, Lee (Ding) Carr, Elizabeth Allen, his parents Claud and Erie Carr, and one grandson, Jess William.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, April 15, 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Luginbuel’s Funeral Home in Vinita.
